I am originally from northern Wisconsin and moved to The Woodlands in 1998. I discovered Montessori education at Esprit in 2000, when my daughter Andrea joined the community at four years old. I began volunteering at Esprit, making materials and coordinating parent volunteers. When my son Aaron joined the following year at age three, I became very involved and assisted in the Lower Elementary classroom. Coming from a business/marketing background, I never considered teaching to be an option. The Montessori method and philosophy greatly intrigued me. I realized immediately that this was in fact what I was suppose to be doing with my life.
I love working with 6 – 9 year old children. It is a wonder and a real pleasure to see them grow and mature during this particular period of their lives. They approach first grade wide eyed, uncertain and in some cases very needy. Amazingly by the time they leave third grade they have grown into very independent and confident students.
I have had the pleasure to see many of these students grow through the high-school program, including my own children. Andrea graduated in 2014 and is now a freshman at Baylor University, Aaron is a junior in the high-school program. I have also enjoyed several wonderful visits from former students. I think that once students have been a part of this community, they know they always welcomed back home. I cannot imagine doing anything else and I consider it a true blessing to have made an impact on young lives.
Welcome to Esprit International School! At Esprit, we are dedicated to building a solid foundation of joy for learning. The love of learning and love of life are the fundamental approaches we apply in teaching each student.
